William Hagans

Since 2006, William has been a trial lawyer in Houston, Texas. He and the lawyers at Hagans Montgomery & Rustay handle matters involving commercial disputes, catastrophic personal injury and negligence, oilfield injuries, product liability, professional negligence, bad faith, financial services, business torts, and contracts. He has represented clients in state and federal courts, probate courts, bankruptcy courts, and arbitration. He has tried, as first chair or co-first chair, eight trials to verdict.

William also regularly conducts focus groups and helps other lawyers learn about, manage, and conduct focus groups. He has also helped write and rewrite opening statements and cross examination outlines as well as conduct jury selection on short notice.

William has been recognized by Thomson Reuters on its Texas Rising Stars list from 2012-2014 and its Texas Super Lawyers list from 2014-2018. William also enjoys giving back to the bar. He has co-chaired the HBA Professionalism Committee twice (2012-2013 and 2018-2019), co-chaired the Nominating Committee for District Four of the Texas Foundation since 2016, and served on numerous bar committees.

William is also actively involved in JDRF (formerly the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). In 2010, William was named JDRF’s volunteer of the year. He has twice been awarded the President’s Award (2014 and 2017) for outstanding service to the board. And he has served on the JDRF Houston Gulf Coast Chapter Board of Directors since 2013 and on the Executive Committee since 2014.
